Various models are being developed and deployed in India and in other countries to address issues faced by rural people. A great deal of work has been done in areas such as health, women and child care, education and adult literacy, livelihoods, agriculture, women empowerment, housing, environment and sanitation, etc. We believe that identifying best practices in India and other parts of the world in all areas concerning rural transformation, process testing and validating them in the field and disseminating such knowledge is the key to sustained rural transformation.
OBJECTIVES
The main objectives of the Center are:

Knowledge Creation
New ideas, practices, processes, technologies, and products are created every day, including in the field of rural development. The best rural transformation practices, processes and technologies need to be identified, validated and tested in the field and disseminated for wider impact. The Center would achieve these by:
» Conducting research to identify best practices that facilitate rural transformation;
» Conducting research on operational problems in rural transformation interventions;
» Conducting research on impact of interventions for rural transformation; and
» Influencing public policy to create an environment conducive to effective and efficient deployment of rural transformation processes
Knowledge Dissemination
The Center would adopt the following strategies for knowledge dissemination.
» Design and conduct competence building programs;
» Provide advisory services/ handholding support;
» Publish research work in national and international journals;
» Develop and publish teaching and training material;
» Publish best practices; and
» Publish do-it-yourself kits.
